Julie Gretta Ross is an independent academic consultant with a distinguished career spanning over three decades where she more recently served as Programme Leader for MA Interior Design, MA Product Design, and MA Jewellery Design developing BA and MA courses validated by Manchester Metropolitan University between 2019 - 2024.

Previously, she served as Academic Director at Raffles Design Institute in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 2010 - 2017, where she specialised in developing curriculum for launching new advanced diploma and degree programmes in Fashion, Fashion Marketing, Interior, Graphic and Multimedia Design .

While being the Programme Director at Raffles Design Institute in Singapore, between 2003 to 2010, she established advanced diplomas in Product, Jewellery, Furniture and Transportation Design. She has also gained experience lecturing at the University of Nairobi, Kenya and LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore.

Her qualifications include an MPhil in Sustainable Design from the University of Edinburgh and a BA (Hons) in Glass and Architectural Glass from Edinburgh College of Art. She is a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) since 1995. Her intensive work and research has evolved through a focus on materiality, sustainability, and design thinking strategies underpinning her commitment to ethical and regenerative practices within design research and practice, regionally and globally.

Her global academic research focus and extensive experience in higher education makes her an expert in guiding and supporting students through their creative and academic journeys.
